This is a hands-on role where you’ll build, host and administer cloud data platforms, data warehouse applications and processes, database applications and automated CI/CD pipelines, while helping PetSure keep its digital applications on modern PaaS, serverless and cloud platforms across Azure and AWS What You’ll Do: • Act as the SME for PetSure’s data, database and reporting technologies. • Own and support the data strategy and technology roadmap for database systems, working with partners, customers and internal stakeholders. • Provide operational support and ensure the availability of business-critical database systems, including incident resolution, root cause analysis and service request management. • Design, build and support reliable, fit-for-purpose database and data solutions that perform well with large data volumes and complex insights. • Support data flows between applications, data warehouses and reporting systems in line with PetSure’s information and data architecture strategy. • Establish and apply information architecture, data management and database engineering standards across the business. • Build, host and administer cloud data platforms, data warehouse applications, database applications and automated CI/CD pipelines. • Work with business teams, business analysts, test engineers and platform architects to deliver enterprise-grade systems and maintain clear platform documentation. • Monitor and respond to critical system events on priority systems outside business hours as part of the agreed support roster. • Collaborate with engineering teams and business stakeholders to manage delivery expectations and achieve strong customer outcomes. • Identify opportunities to use emerging technologies to deliver robust, cost-effective and flexible solutions. • Provide technical leadership, direction, standards and mentorship to a growing data management team, including onshore and offshore team members. • Contribute to agile delivery by working in sprints, helping define and estimate stories, and creating lightweight technical documentation. • Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, risk awareness and continuous improvement across IT & Change and PetSure. What You’ll Bring: A degree qualification in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline. • 7-12 years’ experience across Microsoft technologies, including SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS and Power BI. • 7 years’ experience across AlwaysOn, Windows Clustering, Replication, Performance Tuning and Log Shipping. • A strong background in database administration and/or data management, with senior or expert-level Microsoft SQL capability. • Strong understanding of ETL environments, analytics, reporting, SQL development and enterprise data management. • Experience architecting and developing high-availability, mission-critical distributed systems. • Knowledge and experience building and managing cloud solutions in AWS and/or Azure, including big-data technologies. • A strategic mindset, with the ability to formulate and execute digital and data strategies and improve data quality processes. • Strong working knowledge of current IT technologies across a wide range of technical disciplines and emerging industry trends. • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas in business-friendly language. • Strong customer focus, service ethic and the ability to prioritise and execute work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. • Highly developed collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor, motivate and develop others. • Experience working with blended onshore and offshore delivery teams, Agile delivery, CI/CD frameworks, JIRA or test automation toolsets would be highly regarded. • Understanding of APRA CPS 234, PCI, ISO 27001, ASD Security Essentials, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, web analytics or the insurance/fintech industry would also be advantageous.
