The Role The Video and Social Journalist/Producer plays an important role in creating and publishing news content across SBS News digital video, social and third-party platforms including TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. More Australians than ever before are getting their news on these platforms. Working closely with colleagues across the newsroom, you will help deliver high-quality journalism that informs, educates and engages audiences. This is a full-time, ongoing role working within our newsroom in Artarmon. Hybrid work arrangements are available, with two days working from home and three days in the office. Free onsite staff parking is available. Key responsibilities include: Pitch, script, produce, edit and publish news video and social content across SBS News platforms. Adapt TV News packages and written articles for digital video and social audiences using platform-appropriate formats. Monitor audience trends, platform developments and performance data to inform content decisions. Collaborate with journalists, producers, editors, designers and digital teams on news coverage and content delivery. Support comment moderation, publishing workflows and editorial quality standards across digital platforms. Due to the nature of the work, this role may involve exposure to distressing or traumatic content. SBS provides support and wellbeing resources to employees working in these environments. About you We’re looking for someone who brings: Degree in Journalism, Media or related discipline. At least two years' newsroom journalist and/or producer experience. Strong video editing skills including Adobe Premiere Pro or similar. Examples of original journalism. Experience publishing across major social platforms. Strong editorial judgement and ability to work in a fast-paced newsroom. Reporting to the State News Director/Chief of Staff , you will be responsible for researching, compiling and producing high quality news stories for our weekday news bulletins. You'll liaise with editors and camera operators to ensure our bulletins meet deadline and are of the highest standards. This is a full-time position, working Monday - Friday. About you: To be the successful candidate, you will have: A university qualification in journalism with at least one year experience Excellent oral and written communication skills Demonstrated understanding of how to compile a ratings winning bulletin Knowledge of local, national and international news stories affecting the community Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of media law Accuracy and excellent attention to detail Ability to meet deadlines through effective time management Capacity to operate in a team environment, contributing positively to working relationships Ability to identify story opportunities, and operate with initiative and flexibility Positive work ethic, and the ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes What we can offer you: At the WIN Network, we value our employees by offering a vast and varied array of benefits.
