With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hour’s drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourne’s North is fast becoming the place to be.   Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Medical Scientist to join the Northern Pathology team at Northern Health, Epping in a Part-Time Capacity.  Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.  Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.   About the Role: This is a fixed term part-time role (0.7 EFT until August 2027), responsible for the reliable, accurate and timely provision of pathology results in the Biochemistry department at Northern Pathology Victoria (NPV).   The role and responsibilities are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the values, quality objectives, performance goals, delegations, policies, procedures, and operations of NPV and in line with the Northern Health “Code of Conduct”.  The major duties and/or responsibilities and the Key Performance Indicators as outlined in the scope of the position description.  The incumbent may be required to perform other job-related duties as delegated by the Principal and Senior Scientists.  This Role is responsible for: Performing a wide range of diagnostic Biochemistry tests by automated and manual methods Tests are performed in accordance with controlled documentation Participate in a fixed roster pattern involving day, evening (1500-2330) and night-shifts (2300-0730), inclusive of weekends and public holidays.  To be successful in this role you will have: A Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Science) or equivalent. Qualifications must be acceptable for Graduate entry into the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists (AIMS) and/or Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists (AACB). Experience in a diagnostic Biochemistry laboratory Experience with Laboratory Information Systems, particularly Cirdan Ultra, Ability and willingness to participate in the shifts described above The capability of performing all laboratory investigations, including instrument operation and understand the basic principles of analytical methods The ability to recognise and understand the clinical significance of Biochemistry results Knowledge and understanding of NPAAC and NATA standards as well as other relevant standards, guidelines and accreditation requirements  Next Steps . . .
